General Office of Restoration
The General Office of Restoration (GOR) is the governing body on the planet Ishtar, established in the aftermath of the devastating System War that spanned three centuries. The GOR was initially set up as a ceremonial government by the Core Planets, Ysldara and Arukh, to facilitate the reconstruction of Ishtar and to manage the planet’s external affairs.
History
Following the end of the System War, Ishtar was left in a state of ruin. Amidst the chaos, the Core Planets instituted the GOR to oversee the recovery efforts on Ishtar. The GOR’s mandate included rebuilding infrastructure, re-establishing communication networks, and maintaining order as Ishtar grappled with the presence of Razak—beasts and monsters left over from the war.
Role and Functions
The GOR operates as a unified government, albeit mostly ceremonial, and is responsible for the following:
- Restoration: Leading the efforts to rebuild Ishtar’s society and infrastructure
- Diplomacy: Handling diplomatic relations with the Core Planets and other entities.
- Communication: Keeping the isolated towns and cities of Ishtar connected.
- Security: Establishing security measures to protect against Razak threats.
Present Day
In recent years, the GOR has been involved in quelling insurgent movements that have emerged as a response to the perceived puppet status of the government. Despite its ceremonial origins, the GOR has begun to assert more autonomy, particularly in the wake of the insurgencies. It has also played a pivotal role in the establishment of Kamadeva, a settlement that has flourished due to the discovery of Core Technology within a nearby grand junk-heap.
